Emergency Medical Technician- Hoke Emergency Management Services- Full Time And Part Time -Variable Shifts

Perform patient care and transportation duties. Contributes to a busy metropolitan “advanced life support” ambulance service providing emergency, non-emergency, convalescent, and long-distance service. Obtain and accurately record all available billing information, including signatures.

In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Inspect, thoroughly clean, inventory, and restock the ambulance assigned and report any deficiencies in any equipment observedInspect and clean areas assigned, including the bays, bathrooms, kitchens, locker rooms, etc. and assist in maintaining the building and grounds in a neat, clean, and orderly mannerRespond to calls and change locations when requested by the supervisor or dispatcherHandles both routine transfers and emergency callsRequires the rendering of medical care when encountering patients, including, but not limited to, psychological support, airway and bleeding control, splinting, and bandagingDrive an ambulance in a safe and smooth manner consistent with good driving practicesOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training: Certification by the State of North Carolina as an EMT-Basic or EMT requiredCurrent certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as sponsored by American Heart Association requiredCompletion of NIMS 100, 200, & 700 requiredPossess and maintain a current driver’s licenseWork

1 year of field EMS/Rescue or related work experience preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Working knowledge of emergency medical procedures, rescue techniques, hazardous material incidents, equipment and supplies employed in pre-hospital care, and of communications equipment usedWorking knowledge of locations in assigned County and the cities and locations contained therein, including but not limited to the major streets and landmarks, and of rest homes, convalescence care centers, and nursing homesAbility to work calmly under extremely stressful conditions and follow established rules, procedures, and protocolsAbility to deal with patients, their families and others in a courteous, compassionate, professional manner under the most adverse circumstances, and an ability to maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and other emergency and health care personnelKnowledgeable of age specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of the patients typically servedPhysical
