Provides basic life support to patients in pre-hospital and emergency department settings, respecting their age-specific/developmental needs, gender, culture, religion, and psychosocial and socioeconomic backgrounds. Operates within the statutory and regulatory framework established by the State of Connecticut Office of Emergency Medical Services at the E. M.
T. certification level.
Have the knowledge and skills necessary to assess patients' health needs and deliver emergent care safely. Must be able to safely transfer and move patients utilizing hospital-approved transportation equipment. Have good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Must maintain at all times: State of Connecticut EMT-B certification and be in good standing with CT DPH and any current or prior hospital medical control; BLS CPR certificate; valid State of Connecticut driver’s license.
