EVS Floor Technician - Union General Hospital - Full Time

The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital by performing floor care and general housekeeping duties. This role involves routine and project-based floor maintenance as well as support tasks such as waste removal and linen transport. The Floor Technician plays a key role in infection prevention and overall patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities Perform routine and periodic floor care, including: Buffing, burnishing, and polishing floors Scrubbing and refinishing hard floor surfaces Mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming various floor types Operate and maintain floor care equipment (auto scrubbers, buffers, wet vacuums, etc.) Collect and dispose of trash and regulated waste in accordance with hospital policies Transport soiled linen and distribute clean linen as needed Assist with spill clean-up and emergency floor care situations Maintain equipment in clean and working condition; report any malfunctions Follow infection control procedures and safety standards at all times Support general EVS duties as needed, including cleaning patient rooms, hallways, and common areas Ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals and supplies Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous floor care or housekeeping experience preferred (especially in healthcare) Ability to operate floor machines or willingness to learn Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures Skills & Abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail Good time management and reliability Ability to follow directions and safety protocols Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift (up to 50 lbs) for extended periods Work Environment Fast-paced hospital environment Exposure to cleaning chemicals and bodily fluids Requires flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays as needed Additional Duties This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.
