Description

Primary PurposeResponsible for providing comprehensive and evidence-based healthcare for patients, including, but not limited to, problem identification, inquiry of medical history, identification of psychosocial concerns and determinants of health, relevant physical exam, medical assessment, and appropriate management/treatment of acute and/or chronic medical conditions, as well as recommended screening tests/health maintenance ensuring optimal health, decreasing complication, and expediting recovery.

1. Teaching & Educational LeadershipSupervises Internal Medicine residents in the clinic, providing experiential, real‑time teaching in primary care, population health, value-based, and equity‑focused practice. Teaches residents to integrate social determinants of health, and community‑engaged approaches into clinical decision‑making.

Participates in structured educational activities including journal club, lecture series, case conferences, and resident workshops. Mentors residents in quality improvement, health‑equity research, and scholarly projects. Collaborates with program leadership to develop and refine curriculum aligned with ACGME competencies and Parkland priorities.

Provides formative and summative feedback to residents, supporting their professional growth.2. Direct Patient Care in Value‑Based Care Clinic Provides comprehensive Internal Medicine care using evidence‑based guidelines and value‑based care principles. Helps identify and establish value-based standard practices for the clinicUses population‑health tools, risk stratification, and care‑coordination strategies to improve outcomes and reduce disparities.

Identifies and addresses non-medical drivers of health impacting patient care. Works collaboratively with care managers, pharmacists, social workers, behavioral health, and community partners to deliver coordinated, team‑based care. Partners in a positive and collegial manner with rest of GME related personnel both at Parkland and UT Southwestern3.

Must meet and maintain all requirements of the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and Credentialing Policies.
