✓Requirements
Licensure
✓Paramedic from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.
✓Paramedic from the Mississippi Department of Health required post-hire within 2 weeks.
✓One of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians certification: Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
Certifications
✓Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association.
✓FEMA ICS 100 and 700 from the Emergency Management Institute.
✓Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) from the American Academy of Pediatrics/American Heart Association required post-hire within six (6) months.
Paramedic from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians in Louisiana and Alabama. preferred
Critical Care Paramedic and Flight Paramedic from the International Board for Specialty Certification. preferred
Education
✓High School Diploma/GED and three (3) years of paramedic experience.
Qualifications
✓Maximum weight limit of 250 pounds when fully clothed. (cannot exceed weight of 250 pounds fully clothed).
✓Individual must be able to lift a patient weighing 250 pounds onto a stretcher and to carry said patient and stretcher for a minimum of fifty (50) feet and load patient and stretcher into a helicopter, or other vehicle, with the help of another provider.
✓Critical Care Paramedic from the Mississippi Department of Health required post-hire within two (2) years.
✓Knowledge of the information and techniques to identify, diagnose and treat human injuries or diseases for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients.
✓Knowledge of agents, equipment, procedures, and techniques for the provision of emergency and critical care for inter-facility and scene transports.
✓Verbal and written communication skills.
✓Ability to remain calm in emergency conditions.
✓Ability to provide physical and psychological treatment and comfort to patients.
Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) from the American Heart Association and Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) from the American Burn Association. preferred
