Help shape the culture of philanthropy across UTHealth Houston's clinical environment. Our Department of Development and Alumni Engagement is looking for a Grateful Patient Program Assistant Director to partner with clinicians, faculty, department chairs, and staff throughout UTHealth Houston, especially McGovern Medical School, to strengthen engagement, connect grateful patients and families with philanthropy, and support a relationship-based grateful patient program.
This is not a frontline fundraising role, but candidates should understand philanthropy, fundraising, and nonprofit organizations. A healthcare or clinical background is beneficial. Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, confidence in speaking to groups and delivering professional training, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Because relationship-building is most effective face-to-face, candidates should expect to work primarily on-site, generally up to four days per week. Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint is preferred. What we do here changes the world.

Position Key Accountabilities: Develops close working partnerships with faculty physicians, administrative leaders, clinic managers, and clinical staff within assigned departments to encourage trust, collaboration, and engagement with the Office of Development. Plans, coordinates, and delivers training/education initiatives for faculty physicians and clinical stakeholders to support a successful culture of grateful patient and family giving, including small group and 1:1 education.
Facilitates grateful patient referrals by enabling and supporting referral pathways (e.g., Epic referral function and direct clinician-to-liaison communication), ensuring referrals are triaged promptly and routed appropriately to development colleagues. Maintains accurate documentation of referral activity, interactions, and outcomes in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and uses Excel and other tracking tools as needed to support data integrity and reporting.
Coordinates with Prospect Research to support appropriate prospect assignment and next-step strategy; may conduct limited discovery outreach to referred individuals to better understand interests and connections in order to support matching to the appropriate gift officer (no solicitation). Partners with the data analytics team to participate in KPI reviews, track engagement and referral outcomes, and provide timely analysis and recommendations that guide strategic planning and continuous improvement.
Partners with Administrative Support to ensure stewardship of Honored Caregiver recognition and marketing initiatives as applicable. Supports compliant handling of sensitive information and coordinates program activity consistent with applicable privacy standards (including HIPAA-minded practices when working in clinical environments and referral contexts). Participates in regular University development meetings as directed and attends events/special functions as requested.

At least a Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required. You may substitute required education with equivalent four (4) years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement. Minimum
