You’ll need
Certifications
✓Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) as a Scientist in Histotechnology (HTL).
✓Certification may be listed as Histotechnician prior to 01/01/2026
Education
✓Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or an appropriate biological/chemical/medical science from an accredited college or university.
✓Education/training must include the following: 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution.
✓This education must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, OR 24 semester hours of science courses that includes six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hors of biology and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination
Qualifications
✓Seven years' working experience as a Scientist in Histotechnology is required.
✓Two years’ experience using a laboratory information system (LIS).
