About the role

The HIM Technician is responsible for filing medical records, providing reception services for the department, assembling records and performing release of information functions. The Health Information Management Technician is expected to be flexible and take on other duties, as deemed necessary, to support department operations.

Scans documents into theScans documents into the electronic medical record
Scans patient information fromScans patient information from internal and external sources into patients' permanent record
Copies patients’ charts, burnCopies patients’ charts, burn CDs, or upload records onto flash drives
Logs release of informationLogs release of information requests into EHR for tracking purposes
Bills and collects feesBills and collects fees for release of information based on hospital policy
