DepartmentCritical Care Job SummaryWelcome to our Critical Care Nursing Department! Provides professional and skilled nursing care to patients using the “patient centered care” model of SMHCS (policy 126.054) in accordance with the ANA and AACN’s Standards of Professional Practice. We are a 62 bed unit with 3 areas of specialties that you can work in.

CVICU: Patient Population: patients with a primary diagnosis of advanced cardiovascular disease requiring complex nursing assessment skills and care including but not limited to:Post Open Heart Surgical patient recoveryCardiac ArrestLeft Ventricular Assist Device Care: Impella & IABPECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation)Advanced Hemodynamic MonitoringTitration of vasoactive medications (inotropes, vasopressors, vasodilators)*Opportunities for Novice and Experienced Nurses:Individualized orientationNurse Residency for all new graduates with the implementation of ECCO (essentials of critical care orientation)Tuition ReimbursementOpportunities for paid certification and incentivized pay including but not limited to CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse), TCARCritical Care Internship with knowledge base lecture series provided in the department*No new grads being hired for CVICU at this time.

Required QualificationsBLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support); required for experienced RN, has to be completed by end of orientation for the novice Critical Care RNSuccessful completion of Basic Arrhythmia test within 90 days of date of hireBSN requirement within 5 years of date of hire for the ASN candidateRequired basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft

• - Prefer National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification upon hire.- Prefer certification in nursing specialty area. Preferred EducationBSN: Bachelor of Science Nursing Required License and CertsBLS: Basic Life Support/CPRFL RN: FL Registered Nurse License Work Days/Shifts/Times (12 hour shifts)Day Shift (no positions available) **availability to come to days when positions open up3 Days a week, 7am
