The Histology Lab Assistant performs the daily activities of various lab and clerical duties in the Anatomic Pathology department. Key responsibilities include transcribing dictations from pathologists; processing and tracking pathology material being sent to other labs for additional testing; coordinating surgical; cytological; and bone marrow case paperwork and slides for delivery to pathologist; and working closely with physicians and hospital staff.
Other duties include answering phones; preparing documents; working with other lab personnel; and assisting the pathologists and lab director in other various duties. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education High school or equivalent Minimum Work Experience No previous experience Required Licenses/Certifications
; Knowledge; and Abilities One year previous experience in the medical field with a strong background in medical terminology Experience in medical transcription is preferred Must type a minimum of 40 WPM Compile statistics Input data into computer programs Maintain logs
