Supports quality pathology results through accurate slide preparation, quality control assistance, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Assists in the day-to-day operations of the laboratory with regard to histology specimen processing. Processes and prepares patient tissue according to department procedures using a wide range and depth of technical and specialized knowledge. Participates in laboratory operations as needed.
Supports continuous improvement of laboratory services to ensure high quality and timely pathology for quality diagnosis. Position Key Accountabilities: Performs tissue processing, embedding in paraffin, and cutting, sectioning, staining, and mounting on slides for interpretation by a pathologist. Performs slide preparation according to SOP guidelines.
Assists with quality control standards in the laboratory. Helps maintain blocks and/or slides files. Maintains laboratory in a clean, functional state, as well as cleaning or performing scheduled equipment and instrument maintenance / calibration / certifications, as required.
Complies with all departmental SOPs and adheres to all rules and protocols. Responds to emergency situations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills: None Work may involve handling biohazardous, chemical, and radiological materials, as well as operating associated equipment. Required safety training and appropriate engineering and administrative controls including the use of personal protective equipment must be followed.
