Receives specimens by verifying patient and specimen information. Prepares histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by the Pathologist. May study slides under the microscope to detect deviation from norm and report abnormalities for further study; as well as to evaluate stain control slides.
Work is performed in accordance with standard laboratory practices and procedures. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education High school diploma or equivalent Minimum Experience 6 months to 1-year work experience with experienced Histotechnician in an accredited lab. Required Registration/License/Certification HT (ASCP) certified or equivalent within 6 months, Maintain Certification by completing a Certification Maintenance Program (CMP) every three years OR 10 years of related experience Preferred Education Associates Degree in Sciences Preferred Experience 2-5 years’ work experience with experienced Histotechnician in an accredited lab.
