Licensure
✓Established as a nonprofit corporation certified by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners, the Specialty Physician Group enables physicians to maintain autonomy with respect to clinical practice while growing their practice within an academic environment.
Certifications
Fellowship training in breast surgery and/or complex general surgical oncology and American Board of Surgery certification are preferred.
Qualifications
✓Candidates should have significant surgical leadership and administrative experience and demonstrated expertise in the management of benign and malignant breast disease.
✓Highly experienced breast surgeons without formal fellowship training will also be considered.
✓Houston Methodist offers protected academic time and institutional support for clinical research, clinical trials, education, and other scholarly pursuits , with academic appointments available through Houston Methodist and Weill Cornell Medicine.
✓Academic appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level.
✓This is an opportunity to shape the growth and direction of a system-wide breast program while practicing in the Texas Medical Center alongside nationally recognized experts in cancer care, research, and education.

About the role

The Section Chief/Medical Director will provide clinical, strategic, and academic leadership for the breast program, with responsibility for program development, quality improvement, multidisciplinary care, and education. Responsibilities include participation in breast tumor boards, teaching general surgery residents and medical students, and developing breast surgery curriculum and conferences.
