Work Shifts 9:00 A. M – 5:00 P. M Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Functional Assignment: Under direction, the HRSS Leave Administrator will manage applicable leaves of absence in accordance with NYC Health + Hospital policies and procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and other requirements, with an emphasis on timely case management and customer service.

Obtains confidential documentation and handles sensitive information for consideration of initial and extensions of employee request for leaves of absence, as applicable. Determines employee eligibility under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Workers Compensation, and other leave regulations within mandated federal and state required timeframes. Drafts and issues standardized initial and follow-up leave of absence notices, audit documentation, and other communications within the established timeframes.
Tracks and monitors deadlines for required leave documentation to ensure necessary documents are sent and received on a timely basis. Refers matters to the NYC Health + Hospitals Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) for reasonable accommodation reviews. Coordinates with external vendors, where applicable.
Updates records based on leave of absence status changes and maintains leave records in designated files. Responds to inquiries regarding leave of absence policies, entitlements, and applications procedures. Refer matters to Labor Relations once they are placed on Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) status.
Verifies that concurrent leave designations are properly applied and issues written notification to affected employees. Conducts monthly audits of PeopleSoft transactions to verify data accuracy and transaction completion. Effectively applies ICARE values: Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
Performs other related duties, as directed.
Assignment Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Relations, Healthcare Administration, Psychology, Communications or a related discipline; and one (1) years of Human Resources experience within a public agency, nonprofit, hospitality or governmental sector managing workers’ compensation and/or FMLA leaves; or, Associate’s Degree from an accredited college of university in disciplines, as listed in 1 above; and three (3) years of experience in areas as described in 1 above.
Must have at least two (2) years of NYC Health + Hospitals HRSS Leaves Administration experience. Department Preferences Assignment Qualification Preferences Knowledge of leave administration to include FMLA, PFL, PPL, ADA, Workers’ Compensation, Medical, Military and Child Bonding Leaves of Absence. Knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures, regulatory standards and applicable federal and New York State regulations.

Strong organizational skills. Strong writing skills, with the ability to draft formal written communications.
