Purpose of Job This position is responsible for assisting staff in the coordination of intra- and inter-departmental activities and communication. Assists with patient-related activities under the supervision of the RN. Job Functions 1.
Processes physician orders. 2. Communicates pertinent information regarding unit/department activities to appropriate staff. 3. Processes admissions, transfers, discharges and schedules appointments. 4.
Restocks and orders supplies for unit/area. 5. Completes assigned clerical responsibilities. 6. Performs support functions for management staff as required. 7.
Maintains the flow of the department by coordinating care of the patient between other departments. 8. Demonstrates competencies in the specialty area of CICU/Telemetry. 9. Provides professional and courteous customer service to internal and external customers 10.
Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience High school graduate or equivalent Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Strong communication and listening skills Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above Knowledge of basic computer functions Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations Ability to work autonomously and as a team Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills Ability to work and multi-task in a high stress and fast paced environment License/Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 30 days from hire
Completion of Health Unit Coordinator course Previous HUC experience Experience in hospital setting Knowledge of medical terminology Physical Demands Link to Employee Health Physical Demands Compensation Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity.
