The HVAC-R Technician is responsible for installation, maintenance, calibrations, overhaul, service and repair for HVAC systems in the facility. Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities: Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, manufacturers’ specifications, and written or verbal instructions to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, and ventilation systems. Performs preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment to ensure systems operate efficiently and maintain specified temperature, humidity, and air quality requirements.
Inspects, calibrates, adjusts, lubricates, repairs, and replaces HVAC and refrigeration system components as necessary to maintain reliable operation and minimize equipment downtime. Inspects and tests newly installed or modified HVAC and refrigeration systems to verify proper operation, performance, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications. Maintains awareness of sensitive and critical healthcare environments served by HVAC and refrigeration systems and performs work in a manner that minimizes disruption to patient care and facility operations.
Maintains accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and documentation to support compliance with local, state, federal, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and accrediting organization requirements. Maintains equipment inventories, submits material and equipment requisitions, and coordinates with vendors and contractors regarding parts, services, and project requirements. Observes and follows all applicable safety procedures, infection prevention practices, and EPA regulations related to refrigeration systems, refrigerant handling, and workplace safety.
Troubleshoots system malfunctions and identifies corrective actions to restore equipment operation and optimize system performance. Supports and promotes a culture of safety, quality, customer service, and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with departmental and organizational standards.
