The Education Stipend will be issued as a one-time payment of $13,000 and will be considered taxable income. The Illinois Central College (ICC) Radiography Education Stipend provides selected students a $13,000 education stipend to be used to assist with program costs. Upon graduation, education stipend recipients will be required to work a 3 year work commitment at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, full time as a Radiologic Technologist/Imaging Technologist.

As part of the multidisciplinary team, under the direction of a radiologist, the radiology technologist performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. They are responsible for performing technical procedures that may require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. They perform patient intake by collecting medical history and must be able to answer patient questions regarding the imaging procedure.

They follow specific instructions from providers on what areas to image and guide patients through the imaging process safely and comfortably. In addition, they operate imaging equipment proficiently, have a firm understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body, demonstrate knowledge of proper imaging techniques (i.e. positioning and technical factors) in special populations such as children, the elderly, and patients with debilitating conditions and may confer with providers on the results of imaging tests and collaborate to determine whether additional images are required.
