Responsibilities The Licensed Infection Preventionist is responsible for the prevention, investigation, monitoring and reporting of the spread of diseases in hospitals. Conducts, monitors and evaluates the Community Medical Centers (CMC) Infection Prevention surveillance program to reduce the risk of transmission of infectious diseases to patients, visitors, volunteers, physicians and employees. Works closely with the Director, Infection Prevention team and the rest of the CMC community to implement Infection Prevention policies, procedures and programs. Provides Infection Prevention education, conducts epidemiological investigations and recommends improvements. Serves as an Infection Prevention consultant to the CMC community. In conjunction with the Chairman of Infection Control Committee and in consultation with CMC Leadership, may institute any appropriate control measures, isolation procedures, or studies when there is an immediate infection risk to patients or personnel. Qualifications Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Pharmacy requiredo Incumbents hired on or before 5/10/2018 will be grandfathered into role with an Associate’s Degree or highero Completion of basic course in Infection Control recognized by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) or obtain within two years of hire requiredo Master's Degree in Nursing, Pharmacy or field of specialty preferred Experience
• 3 years in related experience required
• Experience in Infection Prevention, Healthcare Education, Epidemiology, Infectious Diseases, Employee Health or Public Health preferred Licenses and Certifications
• One of the following is requiredo RN - Current State of California Registered Nurse licenseo RPH - Registered Pharmacist with valid State of California Pharmacist Licenseo CBIC-CIC - Certified Infection Control required within 3 years of hire or transfer into positiono Incumbents in role before 5/11/2018 have three (3) years to obtain the CIC certification Disclaimers
