Responsibilities Decontaminate, clean, inspect, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment following manufacturer guidelines and infection prevention standards. Operate washer/disinfectors and other decontamination equipment to ensure safe, effective instrument processing.
Accurately assemble instrument trays using count sheets and tray content lists. Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality, removing damaged items and coordinating repairs as needed. Perform sterilization and high-level disinfection using steam, vaporized hydrogen peroxide, and other approved methods.
Configure, test, monitor, and maintain sterilization equipment to ensure optimal performance and regulatory compliance. Maintain organized, sterile storage and work areas that support safe handling and distribution of supplies. Deliver processed instruments and supplies to designated storage locations for timely clinical use.
Complete detailed documentation throughout the reprocessing cycle to ensure traceability, quality assurance, and compliance. Support continuous improvement initiatives and stay current on sterilization, infection prevention, and industry best practices. Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
At least one (1) year of sterile processing experience is preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): IL & IA Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required within 90 days of hire. IL & IA Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required within 90 days of hire.
