Janitor or Housekeeper, Environmental Services

Prefer high school graduate or GED equivalent Previous housekeeping helpful Must be able to follow oral or written instructions Knowledge and ability to use cleaning equipment Must have a helpful, caring attitude PHYSICAL

Able to work in a latex burdened environment Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs., reach, pull, stoop, bend Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable lenses in order to record information and read labels accurately to prepare cleaning solutions Able to verbally communicate effectively JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Responsible to Facilities Director and EVS Manager Demonstrates a team approach by working cooperatively with other health care members PRINCIPLE

Provide a clean sanitary environment for all our customers Thoroughly cleans and disinfects all patient rooms, all utilities, in all areas of hospital wherever assigned, including floor care (buffing, stripping, waxing, shampooing, etc.) Assists in deep, detailed cleaning of all areas of hospital Maintains all housekeeping equipment in a safe and effective manner. Consistently organizes cleaning cart and keeps well stocked.

Uses correct labels for chemicals and cleaning products Uses slack time for cleaning, continuing education or other departmental activities Collects and disposes of soiled linen, trash, biohazard boxes according to set standards. Collects and disposes of outside trash. Consistently washes/sanitizes trash cans in all areas Is considerate of patient needs and special requests Handles calls with courtesy, accuracy and respect for confidentiality Assists in training new employees Consistently attends education classes on new methods of cleaning or introduction of new cleaning chemicals Arrives to work on time and adheres to policies regarding work time documentation; remains flexible with schedule and is able to work where needed
