Job Summary and Qualifications HOURS: 8a-4:30p on call every other weekend Draws blood from patients for analysis or other medical purposes. Assembles equipment such as tourniquet, needles, disposable containers for needles, blood collection tubes, gauze, cottons, and alcohol on work tray according to requirements for specified tests. Verifies and records patient identity and converses with patient to explain procedures and allay fear of procedure.

• in this role: Demonstrates a thorough understanding of specimen collection and testing requirements as well as specimen rejection criteria Demonstrates proficiency in venipunctures and/or finger sticks on pediatric, neonatal, adults and geriatric patients 3. Demonstrates proficiency in heel sticks on infants (as patient population requires) Receives laboratory specimens into the laboratory information system Performs registration and order entry procedures, as requested, with accuracy, and in a timely manner Labels specimens and aliquots according to established protocols and according to testing ordered What Qualifications you will need: High School Graduate or equivalent preferred ASCP phlebotomy certificate preferred, BLS required upon hire within 30-days of your date of hire (AHA or Red Cross) Minimum of 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred Benefits Doctors Hospital of Augusta, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
