- 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Lead the Way in Orthopedic Care Step into a highly visible leadership role where you can make a meaningful impact on patients, colleagues, and clinical operations. As the Lead Medical Assistant, you will be a vital member of the orthopedic care team, providing direct patient care while exercising appropriate leadership and oversight of Medical Assistant staff and day-to-day clinical operations across the assigned site or department under the direction of the Practice Manager. In addition to performing the full duties of a Medical Assistant, you will serve as a role model and trusted resource for site staff. You will act as a liaison among site-based clinical staff, the Practice Manager, and the Medical Director or physicians; facilitate office-wide communication; coordinate new clinical initiatives; and help resolve clinical issues to improve quality, teamwork, and operational efficiency. What You’ll Do
- Provide leadership to the Medical Assistant team, including day-to-day direction, training, mentoring, performance guidance, and support for professional growth.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities, balance workloads, coordinate coverage schedules, and promote the effective use of staffing and resources.
- Foster a positive, collaborative environment that supports teamwork, accountability, clear communication, and exceptional patient care.
- Serve as a liaison among site-based clinical staff, the Practice Manager, and the Medical Director or physicians, helping communicate priorities and resolve clinical and operational issues.
- Coordinate patient flow to support the timely, efficient delivery of care.
- Welcome and prepare patients for examinations; obtain and document medical histories, vital signs, height, weight, and manual blood pressure readings.
- Assist providers with clinical care, complex office-based procedures, orthopedic casting, specimen collection, phlebotomy when competency has been demonstrated, and other Medical Assistant responsibilities within scope.
- Provide clinical oversight for quality-control programs and contribute to departmental quality and safety initiatives.
- Coordinate new clinical initiatives and help implement workflows that improve quality, communication, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in interviews for Medical Assistant candidates and serve as a preceptor for new hires or students.
- Assist with competency assessments for Medical Assistants and provide meaningful input for performance evaluations.
- Maintain immunization inventory, monitor expiration dates, and administer immunizations when applicable and when certification or qualifying experience and provider supervision requirements are met.
- Complete essential administrative responsibilities, including answering phones, preparing forms, coordinating with other departments, and helping patients navigate their care.
- Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality in accordance with all applicable requirements. Qualifications What You’ll Bring
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience cannot be accepted in lieu of the education requirement. Licenses and credentials: Certified Medical Assistant credential from an approved issuer required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
Three to five years of Medical Assistant experience required, with demonstrated proficiency in clinical and administrative responsibilities. Prior hands-on experience with orthopedic casting is required. Strong leadership and team-management skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols. Proficiency with electronic health record systems and medical office software. Ability to obtain vital signs and manual blood pressure readings and collect blood samples and other specimens.
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Knowledge of HIPAA and other privacy and security regulations. Additional Job Details (if applicable)
