The Lead Virtual Patient Safety Companion provides in-house administration support to the virtual patient safety companions and the remote patients. This individual facilitates patient entry and placement into the virtual patient safety program and coordinates patient care activities for these patients. The individual will be responsible for break relief process for all Virtual Patient Safety Companions on shift.
This individual will facilitate communication within the remote patient safety coordinators and the facilities utilizing this program. This position will be the shift communicator to the Digital Care department. The Lead Virtual Patient Safety Companion will provide direction, education, and support for virtual patient safety companions on the same shift.
The lead Virtual Patient Safety Companion will promote a safe patient care environment by ensuring the virtual patient safety companions are communicating with floor staff, as needed throughout the assigned shift regarding the patient's identified care needs, visual, auditory, or language barriers, as well as any special consideration (bed alarms, etc.). The lead Virtual Patient Safety Companion will ensure all patient specific care expectations are communicated between virtual patient safety companions at shift change.
Additionally, the Charge will supervise and coordinate unit operations on a per shift basis and report to management in a daily shift change report. Essential to this job performance is attention to patient safety, continuity of operations and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of processes. The person in this position must be able to work as a team leader by communicating effectively with team members and providing an open dialogue for solutions.
High School Diploma or GED required. Two (2) years of experience in healthcare is preferred. Two (2) years of supervisory experience is preferred.
Licenses and
Certification as a nursing or medical assistant preferred. Work
