MaineHealth is seeking a Labor & Employment Legal Assistant to support our in-house Labor & Employment attorneys in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
You'll help manage employment-related matters by coordinating document management, scheduling, and deadline tracking. You will also support workplace investigations and litigation, maintain sensitive legal records, and coordinate with staff across departments. We're looking for someone who enjoys juggling multiple priorities, solving problems, and handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Experience in a legal, HR, or administrative support role is preferred. Experience supporting attorneys, employment law matters, or litigation is a plus. If you're highly organized, detail-oriented, and enjoy meaningful work that supports both legal and operational teams, this could be a great opportunity to join MaineHealth's Legal Affairs team.
NOTE: 100% onsite for first 6 months then hybrid with 3 day in / 2 work-from-home cadence.
The Legal Assistant role works with department attorneys to perform responsibilities in one or more of the following areas as assigned: corporate record keeping, insurance program administration, contract assembly and editing, subpoena management, employment law, real estate or litigation support. This role will also provide administrative support to attorneys including calendar management, document organization and filing, correspondence management and communication with clients.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Bachelor’s Degree or successful completion of an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies or equivalent program required. License/Certifications: N/A
See “Education” Multiple years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in a law firm or equivalent setting required. Experience in managing corporate record books and corporate filings, assembling and editing contracts or supporting employment or other litigation preferred based on assigned attorneys and business need. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: N/A Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Excellent verbal and written communication skills including editing and proofreading skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office. The base range is an estimate and does not reflect the full value of our total compensation package.
The pay range for this position is $56,721.60 to $76,710.40 per year. Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
