Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Position Details: The Mercy Joplin MedSurg Service Line is made up of several specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs.
Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career/educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their everyday work, Med Surg is the place for you! Our Surgical Unit is a 24-private bed unit that cares for a diverse surgical population including bariatric, kidney, and other abdominal surgeries.
You will also support patients with GI conditions, such as GI bleeds, pancreatitis, urinary concerns and general medical overflow. Our Nurses work on a support team of educators, PCA/PCT's, Case Managers, Respiratory Therapists, Dieticians, PT/OT and Speech Therapists.
Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure.
Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements. Certification(s): NOTE: one or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization) S.

L. E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
LPN-IV Certification must be previously completed or successful completion of course within 3 months of hire for LPNs in Missouri. Other unit-specific certifications as required. Physical
Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
