Understanding of Accounting principles

Oversee the staff responsible for accounts payable and payroll functions.
Monitors work loads of staff for effectiveness and areas of improvement.
Acts as a mentor and role model for others
Responsible for coordination of successful orientation of staff members. Develops orientation tools.
Facilitates and participates in planning, changes and improvements. Utilizes knowledge of the Performance Improvement Cycle to improve work processes.
Provides information, assistance, and audit work papers, as assigned to external auditors.
Oversees reports regarding cash flow; ensures correct payments are made in a timely manner.
Develops guidelines for proper handling and coding of invoices to maintain general ledger expense account and inventory records.
Analyzes expense reports and other invoices for accuracy and eligibility for payment.
Reconciles accounts payable total and general ledger with other applicable records (e.g., subsidiary vendors ledger).
Facilitates correct and timely preparation of budget reports and purchase journals.
Ensures proper recordkeeping of purchases for use in tax preparation and periodic audits.
Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
Enhances the public image of the department and the hospital
Performs other related duties as assigned.
