Patient Access Manager GENERAL DESCRIPTIONUnder the direction and guidance of the Director of Revenue Cycle. The Patient Access Manager is responsible for all aspects of BMC patient access functions including Registration/admitting. The manager organizes personnel and prioritizes workflow to ensure that all patients have an effective and efficient registration process.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES1. Provides supervisory leadership and timely support to supervising employees, including but not limited to hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, evaluating and managing any disciplinary situations. 2. Ensures efficient and customer-oriented patient registration processes are used. 3.

Evaluates and redesigns processes to ensure performance at the highest efficiency at all times.4. Responds professionally to quality service and/or customer complaints5. Creates and maintains departmental staffing schedules. 6.

Monitors departmental efficiencies.7. Attends workshops, seminars and meetings as scheduled.8. Ensures all departmental documentation is current, including but not limited to

, evaluations, training, policies and procedures, DNV requirements and performance improvement.9. Provides departmental training and leads staff meetings on a regular basis.10. Be available and responsive to departmental issues after hours on an on-call basis.11.

Audits and monitors system input for data integrity including Meditech data entry by supervising personnel.12. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with BMC personnel and maintains service excellence.13. Ensures that proper information and documentation is obtained by staff to facilitate the execution of billing and collection functions in a timely and efficient manner.14.

Collaborate with the Director of Revenue Cycle and other leaders to support revenue cycle initiatives, system enhancements, and change management impacting pre-registration.15. Performs other duties as assigned. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS1.

Reviews inpatient and outpatient registrations each month in order to assess training needs based on error rates2. Maintains staff turnover rate at/or below level established by the CFO on annual basis.3. Ensures that patient accounts that require insurance verification not completed prior to registration are forwarded to Patient Access within 24 hours.4.

Attends continuing education courses and or seminars to maintain knowledge on current healthcare issues as applicable.5. Coordinates training and orientation of new employees, on-going education for all current staff. 6. Manages customer concerns in a timely manner.7.

Completes documentation for personnel management, DNV and Performance Improvement on time. MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS1. Bachelor’s degree2.

Five plus years hospital registration experience.3. Three plus years supervisory experience.4. Excellent customer service and communication skills are required5.

Knowledge of medical terminology6. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and written7. Demonstrated ability to analyze performance data and use metrics to improve workflows, quality, and service outcomes.8. 3 years of progressive experience in healthcare registration, scheduling, pre-registration, clinic operations or revenue cycle operations.9.

Proficiency with electronic health records and registration/financial systems and standard office software (Microsoft Office).10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational standards.11. Demonstrated customer service orientation and ability to de-escalate concerns while supporting patient access and experience.12.

Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple demands, and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
