Hershey Medical Center is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist leader to join our Respiratory Care leadership team supporting adult acute care in a high-acuity academic medical center. The Manager of Respiratory Therapy plays a key role in the leadership, operations, and continued development of Respiratory Care services. This position combines people leadership, clinical practice, staff development, quality improvement, and operational oversight—providing an opportunity to influence both the respiratory therapy team and the care delivered to complex adult patient populations. What You’ll Lead
- Support the daily operations and strategic development of the Respiratory Care Department, including staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention, performance management, and resource utilization.
- Recruit, hire, orient, develop, and support Respiratory Therapists while helping build a highly engaged and clinically strong team.
- Develop and oversee clinical education, competency assessment, new employee orientation, continuing education, and professional development for Respiratory Care staff.
- Provide respiratory care education to Respiratory Therapists, nurses, medical students, residents, patients, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on high-volume and high-risk respiratory procedures, clinical outcomes, patient safety, and evidence-based practice.
- Partner with clinical specialists and interdisciplinary leaders to develop and maintain respiratory care policies, procedures, clinical protocols, and therapist-driven protocols.
- Support department budgeting, staffing models, scheduling practices, and operational initiatives designed to maximize efficiency and appropriately utilize Respiratory Therapy resources.
- Maintain clinical competency and regulatory documentation and support compliance with hospital standards and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with Information Technology and clinical teams to optimize electronic documentation, scheduling, and Respiratory Care workflows.
- Identify opportunities to expand or improve Respiratory Care programs as the needs of adult acute care patients and the medical community evolve.
