You’ll need
Certifications
✓Certificate of Completion from an approved Medical Assistant program.
✓Current health provider BLS card.
✓Using CPR when required
Education
✓High school diploma or GED equivalent.
✓Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant Program which identifies both clinical and classroom instruction sufficient to meet state requirements.
Qualifications
✓Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services; this includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
✓Two years experience preferred but not required.
✓Front desk reception when the receptionist is unavailable
✓Answering phones and scheduling appointments
✓Greet patients, assure completion of registration forms, and give instructions
✓Filing and maintaining medical records
✓Preparing and typing correspondence
✓Processing, coding, and completing insurance claim forms
✓Processing mail
✓Ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment
✓Arranging for hospital admissions and outside referrals for the physician
✓Calling prescriptions to the pharmacy for the physician
✓Performing computer tasks for physicians such as AllScripts, LabCorp, and LabDAQ
✓Communication skills using appropriate medical terminology
✓Following appropriate legal, ethical, and professional conduct
✓Attends staff meetings as required

About the role
The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled health professional who works interdependently with other health care professionals to provide quality health care to the patient. The Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for performing both administrative and clinical skills in the Orchard Hospital Medical Specialty Center environment. The MA will perform all patient care duties under the direction of a physician.
