• Within a patient-centered culture, the Medical Assistant (MA) supports providers and staff in delivering high-quality, compassionate care. The MA plays a key role in facilitating efficient patient flow and clinic operations by performing clinical, clerical, and administrative duties. Responsibilities include assisting with direct patient care, coordinating communication, and maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming clinical environment to support optimal patient outcomes and operational excellence. Responsibilities General Skills Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform assigned duties efficiently and effectively in an ambulatory setting. Utilizes clinic equipment appropriately and safely. Performs a combination of direct patient care and administrative tasks in support of providers and clinic operations. Clinical Skills Performs routine clinical tasks and procedures within scope of practice. These duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Obtaining and documenting vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, SPO2 etc), medical history, home medications and allergies accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Assisting with and/or performing select procedures such as venipuncture, CLIA - waived testing, injections, breathing treatments, EKGs, strep/flu testing, urine dip testing, pregnancy testing, and emergency response as required
• Following up on test results, patient messages, prescription refill requests, medication prior authorizations, referrals, and procedures
• Maintaining exam rooms and clinical areas, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with safety protocols.
• Performing daily/weekly/monthly safety and compliance checks, including refrigerator temperatures, eye wash stations, and running quality control tests.
• Maintaining clinic inventory by receiving, organizing, and stocking supplies.
• Preparing exam rooms for patient care, cleaning and restocking between patients to support a safe and efficient workflow. Administrative Skills Provides non clinical/administrative support as needed, including:
• Scheduling appointments, answering and returning phone calls, scanning, filing, and managing and completing patient related documents and paperwork. Productivity Meets established productivity and performance standards for the position and department. Effectively prioritizes and manages multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment. Completes assignments in accordance with clinic protocols and timelines. Demonstrates flexibility and embraces new processes and technologies to improve efficiency and patient flow. Understanding & Adaptability Takes responsibility for understanding job duties, performance expectations, and standards of care. Maintains open communication with clinic manager or supervisor to ensure clarity regarding responsibilities and performance measures. Seeks guidance and clarification when needed. Demonstrates adaptability and a willingness to accept change. Flexibility and willingness to work across multiple clinic locations as needed. Travel may be required. Communication Demonstrates strong interpersonal and professional communication skills to maintain positive working relationships with patients, providers, and staff. Communicates clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats. Exhibits professionalism, discretion, and compassion in all patient and team interactions. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Other Duties
• Performs other duties as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care. Experience Two (2) years of relevant clinical experience in an outpatient or ambulatory healthcare setting with demonstrated proficiency in performing routine patient care tasks, including but not limited to obtaining and documenting vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) may be accepted in lieu of completion of a Medical Assistant program. Computer literacy required, with familiarity using electronic medical records and basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions Heavy Work : Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force or more constantly. Includes frequent lifting and or carrying or objects up to 50 lbs. with maximum lift of 100 lbs. Requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Exposure to all patient elements including communicable diseases and bodily fluids Must comply with organizational PPE and masking policies, which may change based on patient care needs, public health guidance, or regulatory requirements. Education
• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• Post High School Diploma or Certificate Program Credentials
