This position is a part of Salina Regional Health Center's Medical Assistant (MA) Program with Barton Community College. Upon hire, the MA Student will actively enroll in the online MA program through our chosen educational partner. Under the supervision of a professional nurse, team lead, or supervisor in the department, the MA Student assists departments in clinical settings to provide quality care.
This includes scheduling patient appointments, taking vital signs, transporting patients, clerical support, observation & and surveillance to prevent patient injury, and helping the professional nurse with interventions. The MA Student also interacts with other departments as needed, performs cleaning, and restocks supplies, all under the direction of their appropriate supervisor. Upon graduation from the MA Program, the student will be eligible to take the exam to earn the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education High School graduate or GED Completion of a certified nursing assistant training course Minimum Experience Certified Nurse Aide Certification required Completion of CMA coursework within 14 months years of hire. Required Registration/License/Certification Basic Life Support certification from either American Red Cross/AED for the Health Care Provider, or Basic Life Support (American Heart Association- Health Care Provider) successfully completed within the first 90 days of employment.
Completion of Medical Assistant training program, within fourteen months of hire, offered through Salina Regional Health Center.
