Education
✓Associate's Degree or equivalent experience on a 2:1 basis
Qualifications
✓3+ years of previous experience performing oral interpretation for a Spanish-speaking population
✓Experience in a health care setting with strong medical vocabulary and knowledge of general hospital policies and procedures
✓Demonstrated proficiency (both oral and written) in English and Spanish at a level that ensures accurate and understandable interpretation. (Determined by an entry test coordinated by Language Services).
✓Advanced knowledge of cultural standards and customs of the international region from which LEP community patients originate
✓Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
✓Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
✓High level of interpersonal and organizational skills is required to interact and interpret for LEP patients in delicate and sometimes high pressure and stressful situations
✓Ability to handle multiple tasks in fast-paced environment
