ASCP in Cytogenetics CG(ASCP) preferred
Education
✓Current University of Arkansas System employees, including student employees and graduate assistants, need to log in to Workday via MyApps.
BSMT or BSMLS degree in Cytogenetics preferred
Qualifications
✓Receive, identify, and process patient specimens such as blood, bone marrow, amniotic fluid, tissue, or other samples .
✓Prepare specimens for chromosome studies, including cell culture, harvesting, and slide preparation.
✓Analyze chromosomes for abnormalities in number, structure, and morphology .
✓Use microscopes, imaging systems, and laboratory software to evaluate chromosome preparations.
✓Assist with testing for abnormalities such as aneuploidies, deletions, duplications, translocations, and other chromosomal changes .
✓Follow established laboratory protocols, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
✓Troubleshoot specimen or testing problems and escalate unusual findings to senior technologists or supervisors.
✓Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies.
✓Enter and maintain accurate patient and test information in the laboratory information system.
✓Assist with validation, quality assurance, proficiency testing, and continuous-improvement activities.
✓Communicate significant or unusual findings to appropriate laboratory personnel according to established procedures.
✓Annual TB Screening, Criminal Background Check, Substance Abuse Testing
✓This position is subject to pre-employment screening (criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification).
✓A criminal conviction or arrest pending adjudication alone shall not disqualify an applicant except as provided by law.
✓Any criminal history will be evaluated in relationship to job responsibilities and business necessity.
