The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) performs clinical laboratory tests by standard operating policies and procedures. Understands method principles, performs quality control & calibrations, performs preventive maintenance, and analyzes results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits. As an MLS, you will: Prepare patient specimens as required for laboratory testing and perform laboratory tests specific to department.
Monitor test results to assure test quality and validity. Communicate test results in a timely manner. Enter and retrieve data from laboratory computer systems.
Assist in orientation or training of new or less experienced employees or students. Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and environment. Demonstrate appropriate, caring behavior in the workplace, treating patients, their families, visitors and staff with respect and dignity.
Works alternate shifts as required. Perform other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, phlebotomy. Minimum Requirements Bachelors degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology or a biological, chemical or physical science from an accredited institution.
