Medical Laboratory Technician/ Medical Lab Scientist

A Brief Overview PRN position -- primary hours are Nights Follows laboratory policies and procedures to perform high and moderate complexity testing. Performs pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory support functions. Demonstrates clear communication with team members to optimize laboratory operations

Accurately and efficiently performs pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical processes for laboratory testing Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions Performs and evaluates all required quality control assessments as described in departmental policies and procedures prior to reporting patient results. Evaluates results of laboratory tests according to laboratory protocols to ensure quality patient care.

Documents all laboratory activities according to policies and procedures Maintains and demonstrates competency assessment in assigned area Takes responsibility for self-development and Completes all assigned mandatory assignments within allowed timelines. Is an active participant in departmental projects Collaborates with the laboratory supervisor to ensure laboratory compliance with all regulatory agencies by established standards Trains students and new team members, and is a resource for other technical team members Assesses competency of team members as assigned Additional Responsibilities Ability to keep organized Displays initiative to perform job duties Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to multi-task Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients, customers, co-workers.

Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members Knowledge of standard laboratory policies and procedures, safety practices, and laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Knowledge of regulatory standards and a good understanding of laboratory operations Initiates, solves problems, and troubleshoots issues independently. Works in multiple laboratory sections/disciplines independently (3 or more).

Displays ability to effectively train students and new team members Good understanding of laboratory operations Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. Education Associate's Degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology (Required) Work Experience 2+ years experience in a highly complex laboratory setting within defined clinical disciplines i.e.
