You’ll need
Licensure
✓Texas Medical Physicist License required.
Board certified by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics or board eligible and working towards certification preferred.
Education
✓Master’s Degree in Physics or Radiation Biology required. Doctoral degree preferred.
✓Work cooperatively with other University Medical Center and County departments, public and private organizations, including public and private medical providers
Member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine or the American College of Medical Physics preferred.
Qualifications
✓One year of experience as a Physicist required, preferably in the State of Texas.
✓Possesses critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
✓Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
✓Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills.
✓Possesses strong time management skills.
✓Learn, use, and adapt to new computer technologies, including changes to hospital systems and other electronic medical records programs.
✓Ability to direct and facilitate the planning, development and administration of educational and/or research programs.
✓Analyze service delivery problems accurately, develop recommendations and take appropriate action to resolve them
✓Develop, evaluate, and maintain accurate record-keeping systems, prepare complex and detailed written reports, procedures, and contracts
✓Communicate effectively with administrative, medical, professional, and clinical staff and citizen groups
✓Train staff and coordinate activities of contractors, volunteer groups and staff, as appropriate
About the role
The Medical Physicist plans, organizes, directs, and manages the operation of the Imaging Services Department. Recommends, develops, implements, and evaluates goals, objectives, policies, and procedures related to diagnostic imaging; provides staff support to higher-level management within the Hospital District; and selects, trains, and supervises subordinate clinical, technical, and clerical staff.
