Duties Description As a Medical Specialist 3, you would serve as chief of service; manage, direct, and administer medical services for an assigned facility(s), unit(s), or program(s); develop, implement, and revise clinical policies and procedures; and directly supervise Medical Specialists, physicians, and/or other medical providers.

Candidates must meet the following

• Transfer Opportunity - Permanent New York State employee currently serving in this title, or in comparable title, and eligible for Section 70.1 transfer; OR Promotional Opportunity - Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State; AND Certification by a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty AND One (1) year of permanent service as Medical Specialist 2; AND Eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. OR Open Competitive: Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State; AND Certification by the appropriate Medical Specialty Board; AND One (1) year of post-board certification experience in a medical specialty; AND Eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. OR Provisional Opportunity - Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State; AND Certification by a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty. AND One year of post-certification experience in your medical specialty. If you are appointed provisionally, you must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title and your score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before you can be permanently appointed.
