Mental Health Behavioral Health Assistant - Full Time - Nights

Bartlett Regional Hospital is looking for a Behavioral Health Assistant to join our Mental Health team! Pay Information: Internal Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on applicable Rules or Union Contract Terms. External Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on relevant experience.

BHA 1 starts at $23.63 per hour BHA2 starts at $24.81 per hour

BHA 1: The Behavioral Health Assistant 1 provides entry-level support to patients receiving behavioral health services in inpatient, outpatient, and other treatment settings. Under the direction of licensed healthcare professionals, this position assists with patient engagement, therapeutic activities, observation, documentation, and implementation of treatment plans while helping maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment.

The Behavioral Health Assistant 1 works collaboratively with the healthcare team to promote patient well-being, recovery, and participation in services, escalating concerns and changes in patient condition as appropriate. BHA 2: The Behavioral Health Assistant 2 provides advanced-level support to patients receiving behavioral health services across inpatient, outpatient, and other treatment settings. In addition to performing direct patient care and therapeutic support functions, this position serves as a resource to staff, facilitates therapeutic and recovery-focused activities, assists with onboarding and mentoring new employees, and supports coordination of daily program operations.

Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team, the Behavioral Health Assistant 2 promotes patient safety, engagement, and recovery while exercising independent judgment within established treatment plans, policies, and procedures.

High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred

Six (6) months of customer service, healthcare, human services, childcare, education, public safety, or related experience. Direct experience working with individuals experiencing behavioral health, substance use, developmental, or social service needs preferred, but not required. High School Diploma or equivalent

Two (2) years of experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, social services, healthcare, substance use treatment, residential care, or a closely related field OR one (1) year of experience as a Behavioral Health Assistant 1 or equivalent behavioral health support position at BRH License(s) Required: None Certification(s) Required: BLS, TEAM/CPI Practice Notice: All new employees are required to produce a negative drug screen for all illegal substances in the State of Alaska prior to the start of employment.
