You’ll need
Certifications
✓Required: Must successfully complete an EKG/Dysrhythmia course within 90 days of hire and within 6 months of hire, must attend unit-based courses relative to specialized area.
Education
✓GED or High School Diploma
PCA, Medic Corpsman, or a nursing student having completed the first clinical rotation successfully preferred
Qualifications
✓Less than one year of related experience
One year or more working in a healthcare environment as a monitor technician preferred
Necessary Skills preferred
Basic medical terminology preferred
Knowledge of standard precautions, recognizing obvious job related emergencies preferred
An awareness of ethical and legal responsibilities as they relate to the job preferred
Ability to read EKG arrhythmias preferred
Demonstrates the essential knowledge necessary to effectively monitor patients for seizure activity connected to an Epilepsy Monitor (EMU) preferred

What you’ll do
In this role theIn this role the Monitor Technician/Epilepsy Monitoring (EMU) will perform the following job duties:
Continuously monitor cardiac telemetryContinuously monitor cardiac telemetry and EKG rhythms for assigned patients
Recognize and identifies cardiacRecognize and identifies cardiac dysrhythmias and other significant rhythm changes
Immediately notifies the registeredImmediately notifies the registered nurse (RN) of pertinent changes in a patient's heart rate or cardiac rhythm
Produce and maintain accurateProduce and maintain accurate telemetry rhythm strips for patient documentation
