We are currently seeking a passionate individual who is eager to make a difference in a dynamic healthcare environment. The Video Monitor Tech provides constant surveillance of assigned patients through a camera monitoring system and patient/staff communications.
The Video Monitor Tech utilizes the monitoring system to work effectively with the health care team to identify patient risks, prevent possible injury, and assure patient safety. Responsibilities Constantly observes assigned patients via video monitor and ensures a safe environment at all times. Communicates with patients appropriately through call system.
(30%) Adheres to all Shands Jacksonville policies and procedures as applicable to position requirements. (5%) Documents observations on the sitter flow sheet hourly and/or with any change in patient condition, activity, or intervention. (20%) Keeps RN informed of patient status and activity and reports significant changes immediately.
(10%) Obtains/gives report at shift change from/to Video Monitor Tech and RN. (10%) Ensures monitor equipment is working and maintained at all times. (5%) Ensures video monitors are never left unattended.
(5%) Introduces self to patient and family at beginning of shift. (5%) Reviews Shands Jacksonville emails on at least a weekly basis and responds appropriately and timely. (5%) Demonstrates the BEST Behaviors and the dimensions of Patient Centered Care during the performance of duties.
(5%) May be cross-trained to perform other duties on the nursing unit, within the scope of training and competency. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor within job scope. Qualifications Required
GED or High School Diploma Preferred
Nursing Assistant, Clerical Associate, Medical Assistant or other health care ancillary training is highly desirable. Preferred
Hospital or health care experience preferred Necessary
1. Ability to recognize and act upon changes in patient condition, activity and emergency situations. 2. Ability to maintain confidentiality and awareness of ethical and legal responsibilities. 3.
Ability to understand, use and document basic medical terminology. 4. Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. 5. Ability to utilize excellent customer service skills with patients, families, and the health care team.
