• Registered EEG Technician, you will perform routine electroencephalographic examinations in a welcoming and encouraging workplace environment. In this position, you have an excellent opportunity to gain extensive hands-on experience in EEG from expert physicians and caregivers. Team members work on a stroke-certified unit, gaining comprehensive stroke education and hands-on experience with a diverse and complex patient population. A caregiver in this position will work Sunday to Saturday with possible weekends. Hours are 7:00am to 11:00pm with the need to be flexible on shift times. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform electroencephalographic examinations. Select predetermined electrode combinations (montages) to obtain recordings, recognize artifacts and take appropriate steps to eliminate them. Monitor on the same apparatus, other variables such as electromyograms, electrocardiograms, electro-oculograms, respiration, etc. Observe patient with video recording equipment, ensure EEG and tape are lined up exactly, and check focus, lighting and microphone. Set-up patient for continuous monitoring at the bedside with video, if indicated. Instruct nursing caregivers on pushing event button and care of videos. Abstract relevant information from the patients' clinical record and obtain additional information.

Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment. Ability to push and maneuver EEG machine weighing 320 pounds and Evoked Potential machine weighing 420 pounds. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
