Performs Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures at a technical level, while maintaining quality control, radiation safety and good patient care. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training Must be ARRT or CNMT registered or registry eligible. Special Qualifications (licensure, registration, etc.) 1.

NMTCB and/or ARRT certifications 2. BLS required by end of conditional period. Knowledge, Skill and Ability 1.

Must have intricate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and a basic understanding of human physiology. 2. Ability to problem solve. 3. Able to adapt exam routines and techniques when necessary to optimize quality of exams. 4.

Good interpersonal communication skills 5. Ability to work closely with radiologists and other physicians. 6. Must have moderate computer and organizational skills. 7.

Ability to handle stress. 8. Ability to perform venipuncture. 9. Knowledge of sterile preparation and procedures. 10.

Working knowledge of all facets of nuclear medicine imaging and processing techniques, equipment and radiation safety. 11. Working knowledge of radiopharmaceutical kit prep and QC procedures. Experience Registered or registry eligible according to department policy.

Radiation monitoring devices WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES 1. Occupationally exposed to radiation. 2. Exposure to contagious disease and body fluids. 3.

Walking and standing required 75% of the time. 4. Stressful environment and fast pace. 5. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk.

The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch, and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit. 6. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed.) 7.

Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch. 8. Working hours while on-call may be inconvenient or unpleasant. 9.

Must be able to arrive at the hospital within one hour of being paged while on call. INTERRELATIONSHIPS Extensive: Technical personnel, patients and their families, radiologists Moderate: Director, other managers and physicians, support staff. SUPERVISORY DUTIES None, however, must be able to work independently.

/RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provides quality patient care. 2. Performs exams using good judgment in scanning, photographing, and documenting anatomy/pathology. 3.

Assists the radiologist and other physicians with interpretation of exams. 4. Assists the radiologists and other physicians with invasive procedures. 5. Transports patients to and from department or other areas within the hospital. 6.

Performs administration of radioactive material (oral and IV). 7. Monitors and cleans equipment and reports equipment problems to Biomed, Supervisor, or Imaging Director. 8. Works toward goal of quality improvement. 9.

Schedules patients. 10. Coordinates clinical information and previous testing to determine if additional views or organs need be imaged. 11. Ensures compliance with Department of Health regulations. 12.

Manages radiopharmaceuticals including proper labeling, injection techniques, QC, patient ID, and ordering. 13. Follows ALARA principles of Radiation Safety. 14. Uses computer information system as required. 15.

Administer adjunctive medications according to established protocol. 16. Employees are expected to comply with all regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission Standards. 17. Is familiar with organization, department and job specific Environment of Care areas, including Life Safety, Utilities Management, Hazardous Materials Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control and Medical Equipment Failure. 18.

Participates in QA data collection. 4. Performs other duties as required. 5. Keeps the department clean.
