Licensure
✓Must possess current or temporary Nuclear Medicine license as required by state board where services will be provided :
✓MD: Nuclear Medicine Technologist through Maryland Board of Physicians
✓PA: No state license required
✓VA: Radiological Technologist license through the Virginia Board of Medicine
✓WV:  Nuclear Medicine Technologist License OR Nuclear Medicine Apprentice License through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board
Certifications
✓OH: Nuclear Medicine Technologist through Ohio Department of Health
✓They must also meet the required years of experience, degree, and certification to apply for the next level.
Education
✓Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
Qualifications
✓Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.
✓Ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of situations simultaneously.
✓Ability to interact positively with patients, families, and members of the Health Care Team.
✓Ability to improvise with altered positioning techniques, manipulation of the equipment, and accessory devices when routine positioning is compromised due to patient’s condition, age or ability.
✓Maintains an expertise in anatomy, physiology and pathology relative to imaging in order to optimize the procedure and ensure patient care/safety.
✓The Nuclear Medicine Clinical Ladder is a system-wide clinical advancement program to enhance professional development, provide a reward system for quality clinical performance, promote quality imaging care, and improve job satisfaction for respiratory therapists.
✓To apply for the next level, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist must meet the requirements of their current level.
✓Level 1
✓All Nuclear Medicine Technologists with less than 12 months of experience enter at Level one.
✓Level 2
✓Meets requirements for previous level.
✓One year of experience.
✓Complete competency of Skill Set Tech 1, plus 1 additional skill set.
