The Cardiac Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic nuclear cardiology procedures, including myocardial perfusion imaging and stress testing, to support the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The technologist works collaboratively with cardiologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring compliance with radiation safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities Prepare, administer, and document radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with physician orders and regulatory requirements. Perform nuclear cardiology imaging procedures, including SPECT and PET cardiac studies. Assist with cardiac stress testing procedures and monitor patient responses during testing.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot nuclear imaging equipment. Ensure high-quality image acquisition and processing for physician interpretation. Educate patients regarding testing procedures and provide exceptional customer service.
Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and imaging systems. Adhere to radiation safety standards and infection prevention protocols. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, accreditation readiness, and departmental performance goals.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support efficient patient flow and exceptional clinical outcomes. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field. Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
Current certification by NMTCB and/or ARRT (N). Current BLS certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of Nuclear Cardiology experience preferred. Experience with SPECT cardiac imaging Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of nuclear cardiology procedures and radiopharmaceutical administration. Understanding of radiation safety regulations and quality assurance practices.
Excellent patient assessment and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced cardiac environment. Proficiency with imaging software, PACS, and electronic medical records.
