General SummaryThe Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides patient services utilizing nuclear imaging equipment, making a record of the exam produced for interpretation by the radiologist. May assist in other Medical Imaging divisions as trained.
and ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates schedule flexibility, punctuality and availability, and works well under pressure. Communicates/discusses semi complex or involved information; sets priorities; organizes and coordinates a variety of multiple tasks, prioritizing and managing time effectively; meets and establishes time schedules; and works cohesively with all levels of hospital personnel and physicians. Provides personal care and safe transfers, which includes proficiency with adaptive equipment such as hoyer lifts and sliding boards, demonstration skills as required.
Demonstrates solid interpersonal, customer and problem-solving skills. Handles confidential materials, complies with the corporate compliance plan. Participates in hospital performance improvement initiatives as directed.
Keeps both patient and significant others informed of exam status. Responds to patient's request for assistance in a timely manner and follows through to meet patient's need. Performs patient nuclear medicine services according to department policy and procedures and regulatory agency guidance, interprets physician’s orders accurately, assists in maintenance of patient and department records and ensures patient safety.
EducationGraduate of an accredited nuclear medicine technology program required. Work ExperienceOne year of experience as registered nuclear medicine technologist required. Multi-modality technologist is preferred.
Certification/LicenseA certified nuclear medicine technologist – CNMT, in current standing with the NMTCB or RT(N), currently registered by the ARRT. Allowances will be made for registry-eligible individual that will attempt registry within 30 days of hire and pass within 90 days of hire. BLS through the American Heart Association required.
Mental/Physical RequirementsClose mental and visual attention required for sustained periods of time. Frequently works under stressful conditions due to demands of customers and the critical condition of some patients. Must be able to transport self throughout department.
Standing, walking, sitting, carrying/lifting (up to 35 lbs.), turning, carrying, pushing, pulling and stooping. Working ConditionsPotential exposure to infectious diseases, disagreeable odors from patients, anesthetics, disinfectants, and/or chemicals. May be exposed to controlled radiation exposure.
Will be subject to call on a regular or as scheduled basis. Will be scheduled various shifts and days of the week as necessary to efficiently and effectively provide services.
