Nurse Clinician (RN) - Trauma Performance Improvement Program

✓Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state

Education
✓Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
✓Must be enrolled in a Master’s degree program at the time of application and must be complete within 36 months of hire.
✓Special consideration will be given for applicants enrolled in Baccalaureate to Doctoral programs who will not attain a Master’s degree and may require longer than 36 months to complete the terminal degree.
✓Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field. If the master’s degree is not in Nursing, then it is required to have a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
Qualifications
✓5 years nursing experience required
✓Minimum of one year experience in the position's specialty patient population or practice setting
✓Will generally work day shift, but may require flexibility for special projects or to meet organization and staff needs.
✓Age Specific groups served: As appropriate based on unit assignment.
✓Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate):
✓Physical: Lifting 20-50 lbs. Lifting 50-100 lbs.
✓Activities: Prolonged standing, Prolonged sitting, Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Climbing (steps, ladder, other), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive)
✓Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking
✓Emotional: Fast pace environment, Steady pace, Able to handle multiple priorities, Frequent and intense customer interactions, Noisy environment, Able to adapt to frequent change
✓The Trauma Performance Improvement /Nurse Clinician is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team.
✓Responsible for driving outcomes through direct and indirect patient care, assists with guideline development, trauma related education initiatives both internally and externally, and evaluates and monitors the quality of clinical care of the injured patient across the continuum of care from point o
✓Coordinates and monitors the effectiveness of the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program as determined by regional, state, and national standards.
✓Serves as a clinical resource on trauma care for pre-hospital personnel, referring hospitals, units, departments, and staff involved in the care of the trauma patient.
Experience in staff education and professional development (orientation, preceptorship, in-services education, etc.) preferred
Academic health care experience preferred
