NURSE EDUCATOR – Surgical/Procedural Aspirus Health ** Regional Coverage: North region, divisions based in Antigo and Medford with flexibility to assist other areas as needed ** Primary responsibilities are focused on supporting Critical Access procedural departments in our North Region. The Nursing Educator is an experienced Registered Nurse who is responsible for assisting in the assessment, development, coordination, presentation, and evaluation of educational program needs within the identified area(s) of practice. Functions in the role of an educator, consultant, facilitator, and change agent to professional nurses and other clinical staff in the identified area(s) of practice. Coordinates continuing nursing education, orientation, and professional development with students, staff, leaders, and other healthcare professionals.

Supports interprofessional education. System Surgical/Procedural Nurse Educator position is intended to support procedural and surgical departments within Critical Access Hospitals and procedural settings across the system. While the position is currently listed as Wausau, the primary focus is NOT support for the Central Region procedural areas, as those locations are already supported by existing surgical/procedural educators.

Areas of Responsibility This educator will provide education, competency oversight, and professional development support for procedural and surgical staff across Critical Access Hospital procedural departments. Key Duties and Oversight New staff onboarding, orientation, and competency validation for surgical and procedural team members. Development, coordination, and delivery of specialty education related to perioperative, endoscopy, procedural, and sedation practices.

Support for evidence-based practice initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and patient safety programs. Standardization of procedural and surgical education, workflows, and best practices across supported locations. Collaboration with operational and clinical leaders to identify educational needs and address practice gaps.

Support for new equipment implementation, process changes, and specialty clinical training. Experience/Qualifications: Knowledge of nursing process and workflows acquired through completion of a nursing degree program. Knowledge of adult education principles and practices.

Certification in Nursing Professional Development desired. Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience as a Registered Nurse. Must possess an exceptional understanding of clinical practices, principles, and workflows.

Prior experience in staff development, education, and training highly desired. Prior experience with LEAN and process improvement methodologies a plus. Significant previous experience with Microsoft Office applications, proficiency in use of Work, Excel, and Power Point.

Excellent project management, change management, and presentation skills. High level of interpersonal communication and relationship building skills. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks.

Advanced problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Possesses a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree with an active Wisconsin, Michigan, or Minnesota RN license.

Master’s degree in nursing education or a relevant specialty highly desired. Basic Life Support Certification. Ability to maintain confidentiality required.

Demonstrate ability to be self-directed and initiative-taking, apply critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills to complex tasks and projects. Demonstrate ability to perform in a team environment, utilize effective team relationship skills, and interact at all levels of the organization. Able to influence and lead teams, strong conflict management and negotiating skills, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and a fast-paced environment required.
