✓Requirements
Certifications
✓BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period, and certification must be kept current while in this position.
Education
✓Employees in a Nurse Intern role must remain in the position for a minimum of 12 months before being eligible to apply for internal transfers within West Tennessee Healthcare, unless they graduate from an accredited ASN or BSN nursing program and are eligible for a Graduate Nurse position.
✓Acceptance into an accredited school of nursing and successful completion of the course requirements needed for the employee to be eligible to graduate within 1 year.
✓Post-graduation from an accredited ASN or BSN nursing program, but has not received Authorization to Test (ATT) and a final official transcript with the date of degree conferred.
✓Completion of the first year of an Associates Degree program or the junior year of a BSN Degree program from an accredited school of nursing.
✓Knowledge and skills as normally acquired through the successful completion of the first year of an Associates Degree program or the junior year of a BSN Degree program from an accredited school of nursing.
Qualifications
✓If hired into a nurse intern position, it is the Nurse Intern’s responsibility to let their director and recruiter know if they do not successfully complete a semester (which affects the graduation date).
✓Communication skills to perform nursing care on a continuous basis and provide comfort and support to the patient and their family.
✓Ability to exchange and provide patient care information to licensed personnel.
