Indian River Hospital’s Emergency Department has multi-disciplinary care teams, and the leading-edge technology needed to diagnose and treat patients effectively, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a Nurse Manager on the Emergency Department team, you will work closely with nursing caregivers acting as the point person for treatment plans and the care of patients.

A caregiver who excels in this role will: Manage the practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit. Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards. Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit. Develop and maintain unit-related patient care standards through continuous quality improvement. Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs and mix. Provide direction and supervision, evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination process and develop strategic plans. Actively promote staff and self-development.
Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities. Direct unit participation in evaluation of new products. Approve purchases and establish or revise inventory quotes.
Assist in the development and monitoring of budget.
for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department Three years of recent clinical nursing experience including at least one year of healthcare management experience Trauma Centers, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills Physical
