Atrium Health Pineville is seeking an experienced, highly engaged Float Pool Nurse Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Float Pool, Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) program, and IV Team. This role oversees recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, retention, clinical practice, and operational performance for these nursing support services. The ideal candidate is a visible, decisive leader with a demonstrated ability to develop teams, establish clear performance expectations, address performance concerns promptly, and hold teammates accountable for clinical, professional, and operational standards.

Leads a Professional Practice model that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, shared governance, evidence-based practice, and high-quality patient outcomes. Ensures compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, regulatory standards, and organizational policies while setting clear expectations and holding teammates accountable for performance, conduct, attendance, competency, and policy adherence. Recruits and retains qualified staff and provides timely recognition, coaching, feedback, performance evaluation, corrective action, orientation, education, credentialing, competency validation, succession planning, and professional development.
Standardizes practices across the Float Pool, PSA program, and IV Team and uses workforce, scheduling, productivity, quality, financial, retention, vacancy, and engagement data to improve reliability, teammate experience, and operational performance. Builds collaborative relationships with unit leaders and interdisciplinary partners and leads change through clear communication, stakeholder engagement, effective delegation, defined milestones, and sustained follow-through.
Maintains clinical competency and, as necessary, provides nursing care, assists with treatments, therapies, and procedures, administers medications, and provides patient and family education while evaluating its effectiveness. Leads and participates in performance improvement activities and assists in developing evidence-based policies, procedures, and standards that advance nursing quality, patient safety, clinical outcomes, and cost-effective care.
Allocates resources to meet unit needs, engages staff in operational and financial stewardship, and provides budgetary oversight to maintain a cost-effective unit. Physical Requirements Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
Must speak and understand English fluently. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch. Finger dexterity.
Critical thinking and ability to concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and / or unit/department conditions. Education, Experience and Certifications Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
Current RN licensure in appropriate state. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Must have or complete MSN if undergraduate degree is not BSN.
Enrollment in MSN program within 1 year of hire/transfer date and graduation of MSN program required within 5 years of hire. If undergraduate degree is BSN, a Master's Degree from a health-related program or MBA is acceptable. Previous management experience preferred.
Experience managing teams in an inpatient care environment strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in team development, performance management, workforce planning, change leadership, and improvement of measurable clinical or operational outcomes. Experience leading a float pool, staffing operations, nursing support services, or teams working across multiple departments preferred.
BLS required per policy guidelines. Appropriate professional certification (either clinical or leadership) is required within 1 year of eligibility for professional certification exam. Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department by the nurse leader.
